letter from "Need time for me"

Dear Ms Independent
I would like a for sure way of focusing on myself, I don't want to be bothered with my boyfriend, I want to  concentrate on me for awhile, nobody but me... No distractions; no interruptions; no contact with him for  30 days ...How do I tell him to get lost, and let me be for a while.

Need time for me

Answer to Need time for me
Since I don’t have very much information, I can only guess on some of the details.

I would be very honest with him. If he really cares for you, he will understand and give you your space. Depending on the intensity and duration of the relationship so far, you may find that taking a short break might be just what you need to rejuvenate the romance or maybe it will help you both to discover that you are not right for one another. And of course there are a whole host of other outcomes in the middle. Nothing in life is guaranteed.

If you feel strong enough that you need to take a 30 day break, then by all means you should. Your mind, heart and soul are trying to tell you something and you owe it to yourself to take the time to listen.

If you’re going to take the 30 days to do some soul searching, I would highly recommend keeping a journal. Start the journal before you start your sabbatical. Write exactly how you feel and don’t hold back, let it flow, don’t think about it, just write. Don’t worry about spelling, grammar or content. Write whatever pops into your head. Write as though no one will ever see it. Continue writing during your 30 day break and check in every couple of days or when it is convenient for you. Read the difference in your feelings and thoughts between the past and present times and how much you have progressed on your goal. This should be a great gauge for measuring what is going on inside of you.

Let me know how it goes. With your permission, I am sure there are other clients who would like to know how it worked out for you. And I definitely want to know.

Best of luck to you,
Tami
